He is The River

“There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,

the holy place where the Most High dwells.”

Psalm 46: 4

I often turn to this Psalm. There are so many famous verses within it, and yet placed all together, the 11 verses are even more powerful. But what exactly is this river that makes the city glad?

Well if you think of a city, there are people that live there. And yet there is something very unique about this city because it is holy and God lives there. Historically this was probably talking about Jerusalem, but I think it goes beyond that, and what about today……right now?

Where does God dwell right now? Isn’t He with you and I? He is with His people! So, my friends I think that those who follow God are the city, here on earth today. And what makes us glad is not a what…….but God Himself! Hallelujah!

The river is God Himself, His presence with us as we seek Him! I’m so glad He is real, and with us. He is right here with you and I right now! He strengthens us, encourages us, and yes even makes us glad!

The River not only is for refreshing us though. The River brings life to us! This is shared with us again and again in the beautiful poetic language of the Psalms. Hallelujah!

Ain’t God amazing?!!

Heavenly Father thank you for the beautiful verses of Psalm 46. We praise You Our God, and thank You, that You bring life to us as we follow you. Strengthen us, continue to be with us with Your presence. You are indeed The River, Our River.

Amen and amen! Hallelujah (which means praise be to God)!

A Psalm from My Heart

20170929_145532 (1)

Search me oh God, examine my heart, my mind and may You find Your light

living boldly, yet humbly within my frame. I long to walk

in Your ways as You have guided me.

Only in Your strength can I

hike those trails you have given.

Be with me, walk with me

give me courage,

my God I beseech You,

The Eternal God is Your Strength

“The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms. He will drive out your enemies before you…….”

Deuteronomy 33: 27

Isn’t that line amazing to think about? The One who made the heavens and earth, and everything in between…is…our refuge! What amazing words. He is also the God of yesterday, today, and tomorrow, eternal and forever!

And in His magnificence, He cares about us. We are to feel safe with Him holding us, and in control of our lives. Even when things are spiraling out of control, God Almighty says “I’ve got you!”

And before you celebrate victory over your enemies, this is not talking about that neighbor that doesn’t like you! No, no, no, and no. Today our enemies are different. Ever been afraid, or angry? Ever had a lack of faith which led you down the wrong road? Oh yeah. God speaks to us today, right where we are. Through Him we can have the victory we need!

Thank You God, that we can turn to You, and that You are our refuge! Help us to trust in You as we walk with You. Catch us when we fall, and help us to see our lives through the eyes of faith. Continue to strengthen us. Amen.

He Still Walks with Us

Even after all this time, He still walks with us

through all the fires and ruins

of our world, and even through

our own disasters,

our shattered sense of who we are,

He walks by our side,

do you feel His foorprints

in your heart? His presence deep within.

Even after all this time He still walks with us.

Our Refuge and Strength

“God is our refuge, and strength, a very present help in trouble.”

Psalm 46:1

Is there any wonder why so many people have been encouraged by the Psalms?

Is there any wonder why so many people have faith in the God of heaven and earth?

And the term here, “a very present help” means He not only knows every thing, but He is the God of now, meaning He is right here, with us!! Hallelujah!!

Lord God Almighty, You know everyting we go through, and we ask You continue to be with us! Amen.

My Help Comes from the Lord

“I lift me eyes to the mountains – where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.”

Psalm 121:1, 2

Many people have been so encouraged by these words. These are the types of words from the Psalms that truly point to Scriptures being eternal, meaning lasting forever.

They are as relevant today as when they were first written. Have any of you meditated on these words during a difficult time? I know I have, and there are many more like them in the Psalms.

My wife focused on these words when she had cancer years ago (a blood cancer), and God strengthened her. In seeing her faith, I was strengthened also.

Regardless of what you are facing, I encourage you to look into the Psalms, and drink them in – like a cool refreshing, clear mountain stream.

Heavenly Father refresh us today. Help us to drink from the Psalms, and to be encouraged. Amen.

Great Are the Works of the Lord

“Great are the works of the Lord; they are pondered by all

who delight in them. Glorious and majestic are his deeds,

and his righteousness endures forever.

Psalm 111: 2, 3

As we think about all that God has done in our lives, and all that He is doing, our faith is increased. We can trust in Him like no one else, and praise will fill our hearts as we think of all He has done.

Lord God Almighty, we thank you and praise You! Amen.
