He Still Walks with Us

20170929_145547

Even after all this time, He still walks with us

through all the fires and ruins

of our world, and even through

our own disasters,

our shattered sense of who we are,

He walks by our side,

do you feel His foorprints

in your heart? His presence deep within.

Even after all this time He still walks with us.

Our Refuge and Strength

20171018_145710

“God is our refuge, and strength, a very present help in trouble.”

Psalm 46:1

Is there any wonder why so many people have been encouraged by the Psalms?

Is there any wonder why so many people have faith in the God of heaven and earth?

And the term here, “a very present help” means He not only knows every thing, but He is the God of now, meaning He is right here, with us!! Hallelujah!!

Lord God Almighty, You know everyting we go through, and we ask You continue to be with us! Amen.

My Help Comes from the Lord

100_1296

“I lift me eyes to the mountains – where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.”

Psalm 121:1, 2

Many people have been so encouraged by these words. These are the types of words from the Psalms that truly point to Scriptures being eternal, meaning lasting forever.

They are as relevant today as when they were first written. Have any of you meditated on these words during a difficult time? I know I have, and there are many more like them in the Psalms.

My wife focused on these words when she had cancer years ago (a blood cancer), and God strengthened her. In seeing her faith, I was strengthened also.

Regardless of what you are facing, I encourage you to look into the Psalms, and drink them in – like a cool refreshing, clear mountain stream.

Heavenly Father refresh us today. Help us to drink from the Psalms, and to be encouraged. Amen.

Great Are the Works of the Lord

100_1600

“Great are the works of the Lord; they are pondered by all

who delight in them. Glorious and majestic are his deeds,

and his righteousness endures forever.

Psalm 111: 2, 3

As we think about all that God has done in our lives, and all that He is doing, our faith is increased. We can trust in Him like no one else, and praise will fill our hearts as we think of all He has done.

Lord God Almighty, we thank you and praise You! Amen.

Worship the Lord

100_1480.JPG

“Ascribe to the Lord, all you families of nations, ascribe to the Lord

glory and strength. Ascribe to the Lord the glory due His name;

bring an offering and come into his courts. Worship

the Lord in the splendor of his holiness….”

Psalm 96: 7 – 9a

Here the Psalmist is caught up in the praise of our God! The word ascribe here means to give Him credit or impute to Him that he is the Lord. All credit is due to Him!

And notice here, He mentions all the families of nations. God has never been, and never will be for only one group! Ain’t that cool?? When we all stand before Him there will be so many tribes, languages, and nations. May we all worship Him!

Heavenly Father we lift up Your name and give You credit for being at work in our lives. We worship You and praise You!

Help us to remember You are the God of everybody! Amen.

Resting in the Shadow

100_1499

“Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High

will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.”

Psalm 91:1

What a wonderful beginning to a wonderful Psalm! Did you know that when we follow Him, love Him, and trust in Him, we are very much dwelling in His shelter??

And dwelling in God’s shelter, brings much needed rest to our spirits. Resting in His shadow is an expression here of the peace of God, His protection, and blessing. He watches over us, and we are under His wings.

And I love the expressions in this verse, that He is the “Most High”, and the “Almighty.” When we say things like that, our confidence in who God is, gets boosted! He really is the Most High, and there is no one mightier than Him!

Heavenly Father thank You for who You are, and that you watch over us, and that we can rest in You. And that we can have complete confidence in You, and in Your power and protection! Amen!

Tragedies

20171001_150001

There are times we don’t know what to say,

a silence of deep grieving, pulling us

further away

from courage, and yet

in the pain always the proof

we were made, with God’s heart

to strengthen

and bring hope

to each other.

The Everlasting Arms

100_1281

“The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath

are the everlasting arms.”

Deuteronomy 33:27a

When we say that God is eternal, we are strengthened by the fact He is always there. The One who existed before time began, is our refuge!

And the next part of this verse is even more encouraging. Underneath are His everlasting arms! What a wonderful illustration, of God being our strength. We can trust in Him, and rely on Him, even through circumstances we don’t understand.

Heavenly Father, we trust in You, and thank you that You are there, You are here with us, always and forever! Amen.
