Most Worthy to Be Praised

“Sing to the Lord, praise his name; proclaim his salvation day after day.

Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among

all peoples. For great is the Lord and most worthy of praise….”

Psalm 96: 2-4a

Hallelujah! (which means praise be to God!) This is some of that high praise of God the Psalms are so famous for! Have you ever thought about our need to praise Him, proclaiming His salvation day after day?

Well when we do so it’s difficult to fall into the shadows of bad attitudes. Praise helps us to keep our focus positive and moving forward! Hallelujah.

And notice the middle section here about “among the nations” and “among all peoples.” Did you ever think that since the beginning of all things, God wants all people to know Him, and to be involved in praising Him? Ain’t that something?

You see faith did not begin in the year 1500! God loves people everywhere and the idea began with God and His working among the people of God thousands of years ago. It was never meant to be for Israel only, or for Europe only or etc……..

“For great is the Lord and most worthy of praise…” Hallelujah! (I was trying for 3 Hallelujahs today!)

Lord God we praise you, and may all the earth praise You Our God, every tribe, language and nation! Amen.

Thirsting for God

“O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you;

my soul thirsts for you,

my body longs for you,

in a dry and weary land

where there is no water.

Psalm 63: 1

In our deserts, in that dry place, devoid of life, we can become easily exhausted, discouraged, thirsty for God’s presence, and longing for our bodies to be refreshed.

And the desert can, at times, be simply an internal one, where we are just not into the faith thing right now. Perhaps some disaster has happened.

But regardless of our circumstances we can be refreshed!

Lord God, refresh us, strengthen us, fill us with faith again! We seek You Lord God!

Fill us to overflowing! Amen and amen.

A Generous Person

“A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.”

Proverbs 11: 25

Have you ever been blessed by a friend, perhaps with a gift? And if you have, isn’t it amazing how this gift comes at the right time? A simple kind word, or even a card can do wonders to lift our spirits. E-cards can be amazing.

Tough times are so much easier to go through when we are encouraged by someone else. I think God places people in our lives to encourage us. And you know what? God places us in circumstances, and with others, so that we can encourage them!

Have you been used to bless others? It’s not that we seek the blessing, but when we give to others we become wonderfully blessed, knowing that we have contributed something positive, something beautiful, to make our world just a little bit better.

Heavenly Father, thank you for using the people in our lives as a wonderful blessing to us! Help us to reach out to others to be a blessing too. Lord God, You are amazing, and we thank You! Amen.

We Wait in Hope

“We wait in hope for the Lord; he is our help and our shield.

In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name.

May your unfailing love be with us, Lord,

even as we put our hope in you.”

Psalm 33: 20-22

We often think of God helping us, but have you ever thought of the Lord, as your shield? Kind of cool huh?

When we look at the next line, we see that God wants us to have our hearts rejoicing. The two lines are very much connected. When we are we rejoicing in God, He becomes our shield! Yay! He is our protector.

And here, our waiting in hope is that active trusting, and having faith in Him, that we’ve mentioned before.

And I love the prayer at the end, asking that His unfailing love be with us! Amen!

Lord God, these lines say it all. Help us to trust in you, with our hearts rejoicing. Be a shield for us Lord God, and may You be with us always. Amen!

His Great Love

“Praise the Lord, all you nations; extol him, all you peoples.

For great is his love toward us, and the faithfulness

of the Lord endures forever.

Praise the Lord.”

Psalm 117

So much in a few short words! This is the entire psalm, and is so packed with good things for us to dwell on.

When we think of God’s love toward us, it should spark us to celebrate!

And notice that the psalmist says for all nations to praise Him. Does that really mean all? Yep, regardless of where we are from. God is the God of all of us.

And the word extol, means to lift him up, another way to say praising Him. And I love the fact that His faithfulness lasts forever, and ever, and ever, and ever.

Heavenly Father help us to remember that your faithfulness lasts forever, and that we are safely in your hands. Help us to focus on praising You, in good times, and in the tough times. Amen!

Renew Our Days

“You, Lord, reign forever; your throne endures from generation

to generation. Why do you always forget us? Why

do you forsake us so long? Restore us to yourself,

Lord, that we may return; renew

our days as of old.”
