He is The River

“There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,

the holy place where the Most High dwells.”

Psalm 46: 4

I often turn to this Psalm. There are so many famous verses within it, and yet placed all together, the 11 verses are even more powerful. But what exactly is this river that makes the city glad?

Well if you think of a city, there are people that live there. And yet there is something very unique about this city because it is holy and God lives there. Historically this was probably talking about Jerusalem, but I think it goes beyond that, and what about today……right now?

Where does God dwell right now? Isn’t He with you and I? He is with His people! So, my friends I think that those who follow God are the city, here on earth today. And what makes us glad is not a what…….but God Himself! Hallelujah!

The river is God Himself, His presence with us as we seek Him! I’m so glad He is real, and with us. He is right here with you and I right now! He strengthens us, encourages us, and yes even makes us glad!

The River not only is for refreshing us though. The River brings life to us! This is shared with us again and again in the beautiful poetic language of the Psalms. Hallelujah!

Ain’t God amazing?!!

Heavenly Father thank you for the beautiful verses of Psalm 46. We praise You Our God, and thank You, that You bring life to us as we follow you. Strengthen us, continue to be with us with Your presence. You are indeed The River, Our River.

Amen and amen! Hallelujah (which means praise be to God)!

quote from the NIV Bible

A Prayer for Wisdom

I thank You My God that You know all things, even making the concept of time.

I can’t see the future, so I ask that You guide us, lead us, and help us to make the right decisions. In our following You, guide our steps, teach us wisdom.

You know that we are not perfect, and yet neither are we stone. We are Your people so give us wisdom, Lord God Almighty, as we trust in You.

Amen and amen.

A Prayer to God, My Rock

Lord God, You are my rock, my fortress, my deliverer

God I ask that You stand by me

be my shield,

my strong tower,

the One who lifts me up

because only You have the power

to encourage

as we walk through the fire.

There is no one like You My God,

no one.

Turn back the despair

and strengthen me.

A Closer Walk

A closer walk is not always on the easy trail My God,

but I will do my best

not to stumble,

as I receive strength

through Your words

and courage

through prayer.

Note: I will be here on a reduced level for the next couple of weeks, due to my wife being diagnosed with cancer – again. I hope to post on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

We appreciate your prayers!

In This Trusting

A sense of wonder prevails, rolling through the white,

descending from beyond the blue,

releasing a prayer

as my heart searches

for courage

I learn more of faith

here in this moment,

in this trusting,

so I am grateful

O Lord my God,

my rock.

One Single Prayer

One single prayer from a broken heart is worth more than

the most articulate sermon, as the shattered reaches

into the heavens for some hope, and a reason

to believe, looking even beyond the scars

being washed

with wholeness.

In Those Valleys

It is in those valleys where I can hardly hear You

where my thoughts overtake Your streams,

and worry blinds my eyes

to Your strength already given

it is there Lord God

that I need You to teach me,

to show me how

to let go of the noise

and listen

to the peace

You have already planted

deep within

my being.

A Psalm from My Heart

20170929_145532 (1)

Search me oh God, examine my heart, my mind and may You find Your light

living boldly, yet humbly within my frame. I long to walk

in Your ways as You have guided me.

Only in Your strength can I

hike those trails you have given.

Be with me, walk with me

give me courage,

my God I beseech You,

As We Walk Together

A slower walk, a quieter heart

a pause

in between pages turning

as I begin to look up,

and forward

I see the gift given

a faith most ancient

and yet

stronger than the mountain

leading me into the confidence

of hope building

firm foundations

as we walk together

you and I,

O Lord my God.
