Songs of Joy

“The whole earth is filled with awe at your wonders;

where morning dawns, where evening fades

you call forth songs of joy.”

Psalm 65:8

One of the most amazing things about being a faith based person, is that God gives us such wonderful joy!

When we are at peace, and grateful to the Lord, there is a fountain or the beauty of the mountains within us.

Think for a moment. What wonderful things has God done in your life?

Lord God, help us to remember Your goodness, and the joy You give us regardless of our circumstances!

Help us to praise You this weekend. Hallelujah!!

You are mighty and awesome Lord God!

A Cheerful Heart

“A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.”

Proverbs 17:22

Did you know that being happy is like medicine? Or maybe it is medicine!

Now we all go through terrible things, disappointments, and sometimes we even get crushed internally. But God does not want us to live there. It’s not good to dwell on, and be overwhelmed by the negative.

Yes, there are traumatized victims that may need therapy, and professional help, but for those of us that are able, the Lord, the King of the Universe, the One who made us all, loves us so much he wants a cheerful heart for us!!

Lord God, You know everything, and that there are times we don’t feel like being cheerful. Help us, encourage us, and help us to be healthy internally. Help us to trust in you! Amen.

quote from the NIV Bible

He Delivered Me

“I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.

those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered

in shame. This poor man called, and the Lord heard him…..”

Psalm 34: 4-6a

Have you ever sought the Lord, and received an answer to your prayers? There is something amazing, and special, about God working in our hearts and lives.

Ok, now my face has not been radiant lately, how about yours? Is this just symbolic or a way of speaking? I’m not sure, but faith does give us a boost doesn’t it?

And when we have faith, there is a steady walking with him, and a distinct lack of shame, why is that? Because when we are faith walking or walking in faith, we ask forgiveness, and we keep moving forward!

There is absolutely no reason to be afraid. Hallelujah!

And I love how this portion ends. I called out to him – and He heard me. Awesome!

Heavenly Father thank you that you hear us when we call out to you! Thank you for answering our prayers. Keep us walking in faith, and focused. Hallelujah!

Enter His Gates with Thanksgiving

20170503_161337 “Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.

Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us,

and we are his; we are his people,

the sheep of his pasture.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving

and his courts with praise;

give thanks to him and praise

his name. For the Lord is good

and his love endures forever;

His faithfulness continues

through all generations.”

Psalm 100: 2-5

Wow! Hallelujah! If you think high praise of God started with a non-denominational church — think again!

This is one of those classic psalms that combines the 2 essential elements of thankfulness and praise. What power there is in these two interwoven themes.

And there is a key theological truth here that is at the core of all we believe, did you catch it?

Read through it again, and see if you can find it. I’ll wait here.

Ok, so did you find it? Well…… if you guessed…….we are made by Him – you’re right!

Your life has never been by chance, you are not a mistake…..and there is always hope – because you were made by Him! Hallelujah again!

Lord God we thank you, and praise You! And help us to understand there is always hope. Amen!

Rejoice Always

“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances……”

I Thessalonians 5: 16 – 18a

Ok, so we all know how difficult this is to do! There’s not one of us that hasn’t struggled with rejoicing always. And yet God has given us a recipe of sorts on how to accomplish this – by praying continually!

Alright, so does God want us to forget about doing the laundry or going to our jobs, and pray instead? No, what this means is – as we go about our day we can pray here and there as we run into circumstances that are difficult.

And what exactly is a prayer? It is simply words from our hearts, spoken or silently lifted up. You can even pray with your eyes open! I’m serious! It could be as simple as, “Lord I need some help down here!”

Lord God, please help us to pray continually so that we can walk in an attitude of praising you, and rejoicing always! Amen, and hallelujah!

Romans 15: 13

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy

and peace as you trust in Him.”

Heavenly Father, You are the God of hope. Thank You, that we can follow You

and as we learn how to trust in You, we really are filled

with joy and peace! What a blessing.
