Worship at His Holy Mountain

“The Lord reigns, let the nations tremble; he sits enthroned between the cherubim let the earth shake.

Exalt the Lord our God and worship at his holy mountain, for the Lord our God is holy.”

Psalm 99: 1, 9

So Nico why quote verses that speak of God’s holiness? Does God really make the earth shake?

Have you ever heard loud thunder? So yes He does! Well Nico, can’t you just write about love?

Well I do write that God loves us! I’m so glad he does and He is full of mercy.

But I once heard a preacher say, that in order to understand God’s mercy, we need to get just a glimpse of His holiness. I think that’s true.

He is perfect and the Scriptures tell He is holy. One of the reasons we are given this understanding is so that we will worship and reverance Him for who He is!

He is both holy and He is love, at the same time! Not just one or the other. Ain’t that so cool?

I think if we only focus on one aspect of God we will either have a concept that sin is ok, or that God is always judging us, hammering away at us because we are sinful!

Lord God thank you that you are holy, far above all that is in this earth!! But thank You also that You are full of mercy and love for us!

We love You Lord God, help us to follow You each day! Hallelujah and amen!

In the Thunder I Hear

In the thunder I hear, are you angry my God?

or do You hold back the lightning

offering grace once again

to Your people?

May we love You

Lord God,

with all our hearts

our souls,

and all of our strength,

and our neighbors

as ourselves.

The Glory of the Lord

“…I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him were seraphim, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying.

And they were calling to one another: “Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.”

Isaiah 6: 1b – 3

Sometimes God can seem scary. In this call of Isaiah as a prophet, God decides to bring a revelation to him, of the majesty and holiness of who He is. It is very much like the final book of the Bible, the book of Revelation.

So why does God do this? Well sometimes people need to understand the holiness of God in order to be reminded of how great He is, and that we as humans need to follow Him from our hearts, and sometimes we need to be cleansed. We need a greater awareness of who He is.

Further in this chapter Isaiah says, “I am undone!”. He realizes he needs to be cleansed, and God does cleanse him in an unusual way.

But it is not a matter of God being mean, it’s a matter of Him being far above His creation.

Heavenly Father, thank you for the reminder of Your holiness, and that there is cleansing when we need it. And thank you for so many examples of people following You, seeking to do what is right, and doing great things – living for You. Amen!
