A Prayer to God, My Rock

Lord God, You are my rock, my fortress, my deliverer

God I ask that You stand by me

be my shield,

my strong tower,

the One who lifts me up

because only You have the power

to encourage

as we walk through the fire.

There is no one like You My God,

no one.

Turn back the despair

and strengthen me.

In This Trusting

A sense of wonder prevails, rolling through the white,

descending from beyond the blue,

releasing a prayer

as my heart searches

for courage

I learn more of faith

here in this moment,

in this trusting,

so I am grateful

O Lord my God,

my rock.

Sing for Joy to God Our Strength

“Sing for joy to God our strength; shout aloud

to the God of Jacob!

Begin the music,

strike the timbre,

play the melodious harp and lyre.

Sound the ram’s horn at the New Moon,

and when the moon is full, on the day of our festival….”

Psalm 81: 1-3

Let everything that has breath praise the Lord! Do you have breath? Well then praise the Lord!! Psalm 150

Do you think of God this way? That He is our strength? He is you know.

I think in today’s language this portion could be called “Crank it Up!” or perhaps, “Make Some Noise!” What a beautiful depiction of the high praise of God.

And throughout the Scriptures, God mentions that He is the God of Jacob. It seems to add a living history, showing us that our Creator is real, and involved in our world.

And you know what? God did give his ancient people specific celebrations. Perhaps those festivals are not only spiritually important but they seem to paint a picture also of what heaven must be like!!

We praise You Lord God. Help us to remain focused and confident in You! Amen!

P.S. These posts have been running later in the evening than intended. Hopefully next week we will be back to a more normal schedule.

Your Mercy and Forgiveness

Lord God, may we not give too much credit to the devil, instead

accepting responsibility

for our actions then choosing

seeking, focusing

on Your mercy

and forgiveness,

to walk

in the light.

Sabbatical is a word influenced by a number of languages, including Hebrew, French and Old English. Basically it means a period of rest.

I have stopped blogging, but for this site it is simply a period of rest. This site is an offering, and part of my faith walk, so it does not seem appropriate to stop altogether.

So what does one do, as they rest? Well there’s alot more time for reading! I have a list of books.

I’m no spiritual giant, but I do have more time now for prayer and meditation.

And I’m also taking more time out to take care of my health, having a couple of chronic areas of pain.

I’m grateful for you being here, and would appreciate your prayers!

I’ll be back in a few weeks, posting Monday – Friday.

Spring is just around the corner!

Peace and be blessed.

When You Seek Me

“You will seek me and find me when you seek me

with all your heart. I will be found by you….”

Jeremiah 29:13, 14a

Jeremiah has often been called the “weeping prophet”. He prayed for his people, the people of Israel during a horrible time, when they had been taken captive and carried away to Babylon.

And yet God spoke to Jeremiah that the captivity would end! And he assured the prophet He can be found when we seek Him!

For us today, this should be tremendously encouraging. He had good things in store for the people at that time, and He has good things in store for us!

We can seek God and He will be found by us! Hallelujah!!

Heavenly Father thank you for this encouragement, that we can find You, and that You do hear our prayers. Help us through our struggles, and help us to have confidence, that we can trust in You, Our God! Amen.

quote from the NIV Bible

In the Lord I Take Refuge

“In the Lord I take refuge. How then can you say to me:

‘Flee like a bird to your mountain. For look,

the wicked bend their bows; they set their arrows

against the strings to shoot from the shadows

at the upright in heart. When the foundations

are being destroyed, what can the righteous do?’”

Psalm 11:1-3

To be honest when I read these verses I often think of the mess our world is in today. Yes, the wicked have schemes, and attempt to take down the upright in heart, but look at what the psalmist is trying to do here.

We don’t have to flee like a bird. Have you ever been walking and had the birds take off as you walk by? We don’t have to be like that!

Yes, and in many cases our foundations are being destroyed and we can be tempted to get discouraged. I know I do!

But the next few verses after this portion tell us God is still on the throne! He will take care of the wickedness, he will make everything right.

The point is we can trust in Him!! Hallelujah!!

Lord God, we place our trust in You today afresh. Strengthen us and our faith! Help us not to focus on our circumstances, or the negative in our world today, even if everything is falling apart! Help us to have eyes of faith. Amen.

The Breath of Life

You were created, made, shaped, formed, and breathed into – with the breath of life. You were never a random chance.

You were always a great idea from God, and your lineage is ancient, going back to the first people, ever made.

And your lineage includes a line of faith walkers. Father Abraham blazed a trail for you to follow. Keep walking…….seeking His light.

Have a blessed, healthy and faith filled, 2018!

I wish you peace.
